Life: Five Things

If you really want to write a blog post, and have no clue what to write about, then I find writing about some of your favourite things or things you're doing is a good place to start.

For one, it's always good to give praise to the things you love. If only in the vain hope other people will see it, like it, the thing will become popular and then continue to grow. And if not, hopefully maybe just one person will take your recommendation, and then they too will become a crazy obsessive person about said thing.

So, without further ado, here are some things I've been loving recently.

The Good Place...

Fun fact about me, I love Kristen Bell. Ever since I discovered the kick-ass show that is(was?) Veronica Mars, I've loved her. So much so that the first film I took my now step-mom to see as bonding experience back when I was fourteen was Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Yeah, I now like to check what the thing I'm going to see is actually about before I take my step-mom to see what is basically soft-porn... Anyway, The Good Place. It's fantastic. It's on Netflix. It's only half an hour episodes. It's very clever. It makes me love KB even more. It's just finished series two and I'm already gutted and counting down for series three to start again!

Reading...

I feel like I talk about reading a lot, but I just loves it *insert geek emoji here*. I saw Han put up about doing the Good Reads Reading Challenge and decided to do it too. You can choose how many books you read throughout the year, and so far I'm  books in and really enjoying getting stuck into a good book at the end of the day. If you want to see what I'm reading, and what I like, then my Good Reads profile is here.  Books that take note so far are, 'The Loneliest Girl in the Universe' (read it over two nights, couldn't sleep from thinking about it) 'The Husband's Secret' and 'Flawed'.

The Guys We Fucked Podcast...

Mmm, so my life goal is to become as strong-minded and self-confident as Corrine Fisher. I'd seen this podcast being talked about for a while, and at the end of last year, I decided to put Scott Mills aside (soz hun, love ya) and give it a listen. Now for me, a Podcast was always something I drove home to. In the morning I drove in to bangin' tunes that allowed me to get my careoke on, then chilled out to a podcast on the drive home. Well, since I've discovered this podcast, all I do is listen to it. It's that good. 2 hour long train journey? Come at me bro, I can listen to this. Before I fall asleep, this is in my ears. I just look forward to hearing what they have to say. What started as a Podcast where two people interviewed guys they'd fucked (hence the title) has grown into a discussion all about life, women and sex plus all the other stuff that comes in-between. There's just something about it that makes me feel like a strong independent woman who don't need no man, and that's a refreshing feeling for all, right?

Checking my online banking...

I'm not the best when it comes to money. Probably because I like to 'treat ma self' a bit too much, and excel at living beyond my means. But, it's something I'm trying to be better at. I saw Oliva post that she checks her online banking every day, to see where she is and decided to the do same. So, instead of not checking it, hiding my head in the sand and praying my card gets accepted when I'm buying emergency biscuits at Asda, I know how much money is in my account at all times. I mean, it's still depressing knowing how little money I have, but it is stopping me from over-spending which will hopefully lead me to actually saving at some point! I did it for all of my last pay check, and whilst I still went over-drawn (FML), when February's pay landed, I went back through everything I spent in Jan, and saw where I could be saving money. I've now given up buying clothes for lent (I already miss my daily asos scrolls) as I noticed I was spending too much on clothes, and it's also helped me budget for this month. So whilst I won't be giving Bill Gates (or even Bill from down the road) a literal run for their money anytime soon, it feels good to be in control.

Amazon Prime...

Random, but I've got two more TV shows I've just got to mention, and I thought I'd pop it under the Amazon Prime bracket (shout out to brother Biscuit for giving me his log-in, ledge). First up, Parks and Recreation. I've seen this talked about a lot before (I mean, most people with an internet connection would be aware of its existence). I found it a little bit slow to get into, but I'm six episodes away from finishing the whole thing and I've loved it. I think series six is a bit too far-fetched and maybe not needed? But I love Ben, I love Leslie and I love Ron and I want everyone in the show to be my friend. My one gripe however, is how the treat Gerry (Gary). I just can't cope with it and don't find it funny...

The other show I feel needs a shout-out, because lol my opinion is so important, is The Marvellous Mrs Maisel. ASH does it again. I binge watched five episodes in one afternoon and honestly, I only stopped because food and then sleep. I don't know whether it's because I'm a little obsessed with Gilmore Girls, and you can feel a little bit of that coming through in terms of style. But Midge is just fantastic, the outfits are gorgeous and the story is captivating. Highly recommend.

So yeah, five things to let you in on and to get me back into the swing of writing. Pleae, tell me what I need to obsess over next!

  1. I love these kinds of posts *remembers to add it to my post list*, it's so nice to read what others are enjoying in their life right now.

I've been trying to become a better reader the past year or so, so I'll definitely add you over on Goodreads!
